Then, came my birthday. I have to admit that celebrating my 39th birthday was a little sobering. It's hard to believe that I am old enough to have a senior in high school and that I am approximately 6 years away from not having anyone around. I started my birthday this year with a card and candy from mom. I went to work and found cookies on my desk so that was nice. That night, I had Hawaiian Haystacks with the kids, mom and dad, David and Kris. I wanted cheesecake instead of cake so they lined the sides with candles (thank goodness, it wasn't with all 38 - or it would have been crispy!). The next night, I went to dinner with Kris and Mom. We went to my favorite restaraunt, Texas Roadhouse - ribs, steak and all off the fixings plus a piece of cheesecake to take home! It was fun!

It was fun to read about your birthday! The cheescake looked yummy. The gumball cake was so cute! Thanks for posting the pictures.
Glad you had a fun bday! I don't think it is ever fun to acknowledge that your are a year older. The gum ball cake was very cute.
Laurie, it has been too long since I was here! I really enjoy your blog spot. It's funny, I have never really had a problem with birthdays as far as getting older. In fact, turning 60 was a milestone for me. I'm not a tweener anymore. You know, when the guy at the ticket counter eyes you over trying to decide whether or not he should give you the "seniors" discount. I'm actually there. Nobody asks anymore, they just KNOW. Younger people are starting to open doors for me. So wierd. It's a little scary, but interesting, too. Glad I've lived to come this far, hoping I'll see alot more, but also realizing I'm gearing up for "finals" within the next decade or two.
